When you register as a user, you have access to the MDM’s options and benefits. Even without registering you can do searching and get a feel for MDM services.

In Germany, the MDM Platform has already been used successfully as a traffic data platform for various tasks.

Take a look at practical examples

Researching

Don’t seek, find: As a registered user or interested party you can conveniently and easily research information on available data publications. The main part of this information is publicly available on the MDM. Using filters, you can easily find the desired data. The hits are shown on a map or as a list.

Here is an example: Which data suppliers offer the data type ‘traffic situation’ for a specific region?

  • Filter the hit list for specific criteria, e.g. data type and delivery frequency
  • The matching offers appear on a map or in a hit list
  • Simply click on one of the location markers or an entry in the list
  • And you will see the details of the respective publications

Registering

For some MDM functions it is necessary to register and to authenticate yourself via security certificates to ensure data security. As registered user you benefit from many advantages and receive support via the MDM Help Desk. Research your information that is exclusively offered to our registered MDM-participants. Only as registered user you can supply or obtain data via MDM.

To use the MDM on behalf of your organisation, you need to register your organisation first:

  • Confirm your email address
  • For future registrations with the MDM you then install a browser certificate that we will send to youRegistration is free. There are no membership fees or similar
  • When you have registered your organisation, you can apply for further user and device certificates for the server-based data exchange

Supplying of Data

You would like to present your data on the MDM? It comprises a description and further settings, e.g. regarding validity, data type and whether the data is for public research. Simply create a publication. You can view your publications anytime and make amendments via the administration function.

To allow a data consumer to obtain traffic data from you, you create a subscription for him. This is easily done with the support through the MDM. To create a subscription, you need the organisation ID of the data consumer. The administration of your subscription is also convenient:

  • Keep an overview of your complete delivery to the data consumer through a clear list.
  • The respective status is shown as well.
  • Data retrieval and deliveries are logged and are retrievable as lists or reports.

The technical requirement for the data supply and retrieval is an interface with the MDM. Find out more about this in the MDM Interface Description MDM Interface Description (PDF 1.018 KB).

Retrieving Data

When you have found an interesting offer via the research function, you contact the data supplier by pressing a button. When you have come to an agreement, he will create a subscription for you to the data channel. You configure the subscription according to the requirements of your data recipient system.

In your order overview you can see the status of your subscriptions. You can also amend the configuration of any subscription, e.g. by choosing the data transfer protocol.
